Using a Smart Utility Network for Water Loss Control Through District Metering and Pressure Monitoring

Using a Smart Utility Network for Water Loss Control Through District Metering and Pressure Monitoring

The city of Dallas, Georgia put into action a robust water loss plan back in 2014. The plan started with updating their infrastructure with smart water meters. The new meters offered never before captured data providing valuable insights across the water network. In just four months, the city billed for an additional 600,000 gallons meaning significant revenue capture. Today the city is using their Smart Utility Network to do even more; monitoring pressure zones within DMA’s as an alternative method when SCADA can’t be used and monitoring district metered areas on not only the customer meter information but also on the flow meter assigned to the DMA by incorporating the virtual meter too.
